Dr Udayaganesan delivered a seminar on the heavy mineral beach placers in India
PMG welcomed Dr Paraniraj Udayaganesan on Feb 2.
Dr Udayaganesan (Uday) described the ilmenite/zircon/monazite placers along
the Indian coast. He explained the controls on their formation: accumulation in
downthrown blocks and prevailing wave direction. He also linked the
concentrations of heavies in the source drainages to the concentrations of
heavy minerals in the marine placers Uday is Head of School of Geological sciences at Alagappa
Government Arts College. PMG will explore links with Alagappa for future research and funding opportunities
